BASAK ISIN, PHD

Basak Isin, PhD, is from Istanbul, Turkey and has a passion for creating new technologies that improve lives. Her technical expertise combined with the business skills that she gained at Amazon, Microsoft and Dell EMC make her a valuable member of the Catalyze team.

After receiving her PhD, Basak won a prestigious grant award and developed a novel software that is now commonly used by biotechnology companies to design new drugs. She built and managed a cross functional team whose members were located at different geolocations and worked on different aspects of the project. 

While earning her MBA at University of Washington, Basak was a Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft for the team that created Iridias, the social media listening device that provided real-time service incident insights and notifications for online Microsoft services. Later at Amazon she worked with a team of developers, web designers and content editors to develop an automated web content management software as a Technical Product Manager. 

Basak holds BS & MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul and an MBA from Foster Business School at the University of Washington. She received a PhD in Computational & Systems Biology, School of Medicine, at the University of Pittsburgh and developed a new methodology to determine the motions of proteins in full spectrum in their native environment which is crucially important for developing new drugs.
